A Servant Serves
By Christine Hare Tate
A servant serves we know it’s true
His master he must answer to…
It’s not an option as some say,
if the master bids, he must obey.
It’s his reasonable duty to comply
not argue, murmur or ask why…
That’s because that’s his call
to please his master first of all,
and satisfy his every whim,
glad to please and honor him!
He must serve him well each day
it doesn’t work the other way!
He should respond immediately
serving the master faithfully.
That of course applies to us
as we are servants of Jesus…
but to take it further still,
God implied it is His will,
that we must serve everyone,
for it delights His precious Son!
‘When a servant comes in from plowing or taking care of the sheep, he doesn’t just sit down and eat. He must first prepare the master’s meal and serve him his supper before eating his own. The servant is not even thanked, because he is merely doing what he is supposed to do. In the same way, when you obey me, you should say, We are not worthy of praise. We are servants who have simply done our duty.’
