Glory To Come
By Doreen Margaret Higgs
When I am sleeping I can run once again,
I can cycle and ride without any pain,
I jump on my horse and gallop away,
then I wake up to a pain filled day.
When I am sleeping, my legs they feel fine,
I can dance, I can skip, hills I can climb.
I run through the fields, the wind in my hair,
but then I wake up and the pain is still there.
So if I could sleep all night and all day,
the pain in my body just might go away.
But this is no answer, my Lord says “Awake,
Face up to the pain and live for my sake.
I will give you the strength to face every day,
And I promise the pain, it will go away.
I will wipe every tear away from your eyes,
When you see me in glory descend from the skies.
I will take you to heaven where pain is no more,
and your loved ones are waiting for you on the shore.
So wake up and live in spite of the pain,
For riches in glory one day you will gain”
Sometimes when I’m sleeping I think I can see,
Just a glimpse of the glory waiting for me,
As I run through the grass, the wind in my hair,
to the arms of my Saviour, who waits for me there.
‘And God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes; and there shall be no more death, neither sorrow, nor crying, neither shall there be any more pain:
for the former things are passed away.’
