Raising The Standard
By Tom D Blakely
As soldiers in God’s army, by love and duty bound
We must uphold the standard, the wicked to confound.
To hide our Sovereign’s colours indoors and out of sight,
Will bring no glory to the cause, just hindrance to the fight.
Or even to surrender our colours to the foe,
Has been the sorry plight of some, when Satan’s laid them low.
Yet blessed be the faithful, who at their Lord’s command
Uphold the royal standard and in the battle, stand.
Although at times it’s easy to wave a flag for God,
Being faithful unto death remains the standard for reward.
