Tempus Fugit

Tempus Fugit
By Tom D Blakely
~

Time flees from the grasp of man
days of childhood soon are gone.
Tempus fugit.. measured by the clicking clock.

What was sought from early days
has come, has gone, has failed to please.
Tempus fugit.. measured by the clicking clock.

Growing old under the ancient clock
unconcerned that time must stop.
Tempus fugit.. measured by the clicking clock.

Time was and is, life’s only measure
to most, it seems, its dearest treasure.
Tempus fugit.. measured by the clicking clock.

The clock is but a counter of time
And the eleventh hour is almost gone.
Tempus fugit.. measured by the clicking clock.

Time means nothing when we die;
eternal measures will then apply.
Tempus fugit.. measured by the clicking clock.

The clock is about to chime the hour
that marks the end of human power.
Tempus fugit.. measured by the clicking clock.

Time flees.. Have you made your peace with God,
by receiving Jesus Christ as Saviour and Lord?
Tempus fugit.. Perhaps it is time you had?

Jesus said:
‘Heaven and earth will pass away, but My words will by no means not pass away.
But of that day and hour no one knows, not even not the angels of heaven,
but my Father only.’

[Matthew 24:35-36]
