Valleys In The Mountains

Valleys In The Mountains
By Tom D Blakely

There are valleys in the mountains
Don’t despair O child of God.
Even Peter realised this
After he denied His Lord.
You may think that you have fallen
To the place you first were found,
But the valleys in the mountains
Rise above that former ground.

We must never feel defeated
When we bear the Saviour’s name,
Nor reject our Lord’s forgiveness
Which removes our sin and shame.
If we wander from our Shepherd
We will feel alone and cold,
When we seek Him in repentance
He restores us to His fold.

If the Christian path were easy
We could walk it on our own,
So the Lord allows the valleys
To remind us we need Him.
Though like sheep we often stumble
Our good Shepherd is the Lord,
He has sworn to always keep us
May we trust His precious word

“Though he fall, he shall not be utterly cast down;
for the LORD upholds him with His hand.”
[Psalm 37:24]
