Acknowledge The Lord
By Christine Hare Tate
There’s no shortage of noise by rock concert fans
or by gung-ho patriots raising zealous hands,
and it’s perfectly normal on fourth of July
to react as the fireworks light up the sky!
Sports fanatics can be heard on any given day
cheering for their team watching them play.
We reward entertainers on stage with applause,
and think nothing of marching for a worthy cause.
At the Mardi Gras parade there are few restraints,
but start praising JESUS and expect the complaints!
We Christians have a greater song to sing,
boasting to others about Jesus our King!
The crowds were offended, yet Paul preached anyway,
although they tried to silence what he had to say!
That is our incentive, to shout the good news,
Jesus said tell them, and they must choose!
People will object, but even so,
we must proclaim Jesus wherever we go,
raising up our voices in bold accord,
acknowledging the majesty of our Lord!
‘You will be handed over to be persecuted and put to death,
and you will be hated by all nations because of me.’
‘Whoever acknowledges me before others,
I will also acknowledge before my Father in heaven.
But whoever disowns me before others,
I will disown before my Father in heaven.’
