With open minds and loving hearts pray hear my story out. . .
There was once a curious marriage which was greatly talked about.
The groom was more than eligible; a man of means and wealth
Who pitied a common prostitute and offered her his love.
At first she was bewildered and his proposal she declined
But due to his persistence the woman changed her mind.
The wedding was very public and broke down prejudice
All marvelled that such opposites could be so greatly blessed.
‘A Wedding Made In Heaven’ one newspaper headline read.
‘But How Long Will It Last?’ a different paper led.
Perhaps the second paper had more insight there
For soon the redeemed prostitute was having an affair.
All eyes were on her husband, thinking how sorry he must be
As his shameless wife flaunted her lover for everyone to see.
‘Divorce The Ungrateful Tramp’ the first newspaper said.
‘It Was Just As We Expected’ the second paper led.
Then the husband made a statement that took all by surprise:
‘Return to me my lover, I forgive you come back please.’
We should never go a whoring into the mire of worldly sin
For we are the bride of Jesus; the ‘prostitute’ He did redeem.
‘You adulterers and adulteresses,
know you not that the friendship of the world is enmity with God?
Whoever therefore will be a friend of the world is the enemy of God.’
