All On The Altar

All On The Altar
By Tom D Blakely
~

In songs of worship we might sing
At times of blessing we exclaim:
Nothing we would withhold from Him
Our precious Saviour, glorious King!

We sing along with all the rest
Or shout because we have been blessed:
Nothing we would withhold from Him
Our precious Saviour, glorious King!

Have we the faith of Abraham?
Who took his promised only son
After three days of suffering
He gave him as an offering.

God might provide a lamb instead?
Or raise up Isaac from the dead?
Such thoughts had Abraham in his head
Until God’s test he had obeyed.

The father; the obedient son
Has greater faith ever been known?
Has purer love ever been shown?
In this picture of salvation.

Did God withhold His love from us?
Did Jesus hold back from the cross?
What in this world could mean so much
That holds us back and spoils our trust?

God knows the ‘Isaacs’ we possess
Such in our prayers we do suppress
Lord on these don’t test us please!
Take all else, but Lord not these!!

In God we trust and will obey
When on the altar all we lay
As Satan flees in sheer defeat
We know the peace of faith complete.

How often do we say to God:
Nothing Lord, we would withhold?
Have we the faith of Abraham
Or do we still hold out on Him?
