By Tom D Blakely
If I speak in tongues of men and angels
Or have a gift of prophecy;
Though I have such faith that can move mountains
Or a martyr I might be. . . . .
Where does that leave me?
If I have not love then I am nothing
Of no value to my Lord;
I’m a noisy nothing and waste of space
According to God’s word. . . . .
And, I have no reward.
Love is patient, kind, and is not boastful.
Envies not, and is not proud.
Love is never rude, nor is self-seeking
Christian love is only good.
Love will keep no record of wrong-doing
Because it always will forgive.
Love is slow to speak and slow to anger
Hates evil, delights in truth.
Love will cause God’s children to persevere
To trust and to prevail;
And to love each other more than self
Knowing love will never fail. . . . .
Christian love is real!
‘A new commandment I give unto you, that you love one another; as I have loved you…
By this shall all men know that you are my disciples, if you have love one to another.’
