God must have a sense of humour
Clergy jest for light relief.
If God had, His word would state it.
Where’s God’s truth in this belief?
Deluded clowns are in our pulpits
Cracking jokes to please the crowd.
The gospel yields to entertainment
With Bible ‘tips’ to fill the void.
God reveals Himself in Jesus
Angry at the sins of men.
Also Jesus wept in sorrow
For the suffering caused by sin.
Whilst on earth our Lord took pleasure
When about His Father’s work.
He rejoices in God’s children
Who obey God’s holy word.
God’s love is manifest at Calvary
Jesus’ blood will cause offence.
When clergy say love is all that’s needed
They deny Christ came in the flesh!
In the church there’s something missing
May the Lord again draw near.
Holy Spirit come revive us
Fill us all with godly fear.
‘Dear friends, do not believe every spirit, but test the spirits to see whether they are from God, because many false prophets have gone out into the world. This is how you can recognize the Spirit of God: Every spirit that acknowledges that Jesus Christ has come in the flesh is from God, but every spirit that does not acknowledge Jesus is not from God. This is the spirit of the antichrist, which you have heard is coming and even now is already in the world.’
[1 John 4: 1-3]
