Revive Us

Revive Us
By Tom D Blakely

You’ve stricken Your people
But we have not grieved
Correction You offer
We will not receive.
So often we wander
Through Satan’s domain
We sin and ignore You
Without fear or shame.

Our conscience is deadened
This world is our home
We’re shy to come near You
Especially alone.
We talk of past blessings
But nothing today
Too busy, too careless
Too faithless to pray.

We make noise to please You
In church we are brave
But quickly disown You
As soon as we leave.
Forgive us dear Saviour
Return Holy Dove
Revive us once more Lord
With heaven-sent love.

‘O Lord,
Are not Your eyes on the truth?
You have stricken them,
But they have not grieved;
You have consumed them,
But they have refused to receive correction.
They have made their faces harder than rock;
They have refused to return.’
[Jeremiah 5:3]
