Siloam

Siloam

I saw a crowd surrounding the wreckage of a plane
Appalled by all the carnage, their thoughts on what to blame.
But like the tower: Siloam, which fell in Jesus’ day
It teaches of God’s mercy, in such a simple way.

The desert sun is burning, the harvest is in doubt
A million starving children face yet another drought.
But like the tower: Siloam, which fell in Jesus’ day
It teaches of God’s mercy, in such a simple way.

The news is of an earthquake; the town that stood so grand
Collapsed to dust in seconds, when God withdrew His hand.
But like the tower: Siloam, which fell in Jesus’ day
It teaches of God’s mercy, in such a simple way.

One day the Lord our Saviour was talking to the crowd
About the tower: Siloam; of harsh things God allowed.
And He was plainly teaching: unless we turn from sin
We all shall likewise perish; for mercy is through Him.

Jesus said: ‘Or those eighteen upon whom the tower in Siloam fell and killed them,
do you think that they were worse sinners than all other men who dwelt in Jerusalem?
I tell you, no; but unless you repent, you shall all likewise perish.’
[Luke 13: 4-5]
