Sleepless Nights

Sleepless Nights
By Doreen Margaret Higgs

How I long for proper sleep
my body to refresh,
To sleep just like a baby
to get a good night’s rest.
Instead I lay awake at night,
just cat nap here and there,
Lord help me not to waste this time,
but use the time for prayer.

For even when my mind is dull,
and sleep is what I need,
when I can’t find the words to pray,
the Spirit intercedes.
And though for sleep I still may long
I feel a peace within,
When I give God these restless hours,
and share the time with Him.
