The Highway Of Holiness
By Joanne Standfield
I see a glorious church arising
out of the dust and miry clay,
shaking off the things that beset them
rising up with a voice of praise.
Their eyes are not on their circumstances
nor on the things that surround,
for they are walking in His power
walking above on higher ground.
On this highway of holiness
the lion and the bear won’t be there
for in this place we are kept by our Father,
safe in His love and care.
Walking with our brothers and sisters
a body flowing together as one,
each encouraging the other,
each glorifying the Son.
In this place there’s no strife or division
that’s on a different path you see,
a path that goes no higher
where there’s no glory or liberty.
So let’s arise and go up higher
taking a hold of our Father’s hand
walking in love and harmony
with the body of Christ across our land.
Our mouths full of His Word of power
our hearts overflowing with His grace and love
with our eyes upon our Saviour
we’ll be found walking on this highway above.
‘And a highway shall be there and a way; and it shall be called the Holy Way.
The unclean shall not pass over it but it shall be for the redeemed; the wayfaring men,
yes, the simple ones and fools, shall not err in it and loose their way. No lion shall be there, nor shall any ravenous beast come up on it; they shall not be found there.
But the redeemed shall walk on it.’
