The Potter molds and shapes the clay;
He watches as He spins the wheel.
He throws the broken shards away,
and smoothes the shape and trims the fray –
a brand new vessel, He’ll reveal.
The broken pieces, He restores;
He keeps the wheel always spinning,
perfecting each one from the core-
each vessel finer than before,
each one assured a new beginning.
Redemptive work for you and me;
God guides us, showing us the way.
Obedient to Him we’ll be –
God’s work is good, and we shall see –
the Potter molds and shapes the clay.
“Then the word of the Lord came to me, O house of Israel,
can I not do to you as the potter does?,’ declares the Lord.
‘Like clay in the hand of the potter, so are you in my hand.”
