Too Many I’s In Me

Too Many I’s In Me
By Frederick Blanchard

What did Jesus ask of all of us?
To leave our selfs behind
And in Him place our whole trust.

To gather together and worship
Building up the body
Under the Lord and His Kingship.

Are there too many I’s, in the word me?
Is there truth in, Lord here am I
Line up my desires for service unto Thee?

Lord help this simple one to understand
Why there are so many I’s in me
And how to walk humbly as a man.

Let pride flee from my mind and soul
And the arrogance from my voice
For these sins carry a heavy, costly toll.

Under Your watchful and loving eyes
I invite Wisdom to be my guide
And to remove from me, the selfish I’s.

‘I have been crucified with Christ and I no longer live, but Christ lives in me.
The life I live in the body, I live by faith in the Son of God,
who loved me and gave himself for me.’
[Galatians 2:20]
