Lord, gimme. . .
By Tom D Blakely
Lord, gimme this and gimme that
And bless me here and bless me there,
My family too, obviously not just me!
I know You delight to hear my prayer
Or. . . is there something missing there?
You know how busy things can be
There’s not enough hours in my day!
But still You know I put You first
Even though at times it is a little rushed
Lord. . . am I praying the right way?
Father forgive me, an unworthy sinner
Redeemed by the blood of the Lamb.
At such a cost the Saviour came
To take my place, to die for me
That before my Maker I might stand.
Holy, holy, holy, Lord.
The heavens fill with Your glory.
All things are under Your control
My every need I know You will meet
I pray for these and need never worry.
Gimme nothing that I don’t need
Help me live my life for You.
Bless me as it pleases You
Guide me in all I say and do
May I be totally devoted to You.
‘…Hallowed be Your name.
Your will be done on earth as it is in heaven.
Give us this day our daily bread.
And forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors.
And do not lead us into temptation, but deliver us from the evil one.
For Yours is the kingdom and the power and the glory forever. Amen.’
