Forbidden Fruit

Forbidden Fruit
By Tom D Blakely

Out of every tree in My garden
There is one that you may not have.
You may take all that I have created
But the fruit that will lead to death.

Don’t eat forbidden fruit
Though tempting it may look,
There is a hidden sting
And sorrow it will bring.
It is the knowledge tree
Of heavenly mystery,
This Good and Evil tree
Will break your bond with Me.

Out of every tree in my garden
There is one that you may not have.
There is sorrow now in creation
Since you severed our bond of love.

‘Then the Lord God took the man and put him in the garden of Eden to tend and keep it. And the Lord God commanded the man, saying, Of every tree of the garden you may freely eat; but of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil you shall not eat,
for in the day that you eat of it you shall surely die.’
[Genesis 2:15-17]
