Death To Life

Death To Life
By June Stein

From betrayal and denial,
To death, nailed on a Cross,
After torture and mock trial,
When it seemed He had lost,
With the beating and the spitting,
And crown made out of thorns,
It would only be befitting,
Had He held them in scorn.

Yet, from Jesus came forgiveness,
For those whose sin He bore,
For those who nailed Him to the Cross,
The Father He implored,
He knew there was no other way,
To save the world from sin,
Full measure of the punishment,
Could only fall on Him.

He was the Holy Lamb of God,
Who gave His life for sin,
And only through His sacrifice,
Could our new life begin,
Our Savior could have walked away,
From what He came to do,
He faced the path of suffering,
And death for me and you.

In His Glorious Resurrection,
We find new life in Christ,
Because He lives, we too shall live,
A wondrous, Grace filled life,
All our righteousness is from Him,
We only need believe,
Eternal life with Christ in Heav’n,
We freely then receive.

Death swallowed up in Victory!
In Christ, we have new life!

‘When the perishable has been clothed with the imperishable, and the mortal with immortality, then the saying that is written will come true:
“Death has been swallowed up in victory.”’
[1 Corinthians 15:54]
