What I Would Do
By June Stein
What I would do, I do not do
Knowing well that I am wrong,
Though I am doing other things
They don’t fill my heart with song.
Sometimes I miss God’s plan for me
Which He designed for my day
But in His grace and love for me
He does not turn me away.
If I don’t seek, God’s guiding hand
Thinking that I know the way,
Then I need Him to redirect
Taking control of my day.
God always answers when I ask
He will tune my course to His,
In Him is love and forgiveness
He will cleanse me from my sins.
I thank the Lord who understands
All of my weakness within,
He leads me and I start again
Each time I come before Him.
God will help me when I would ask
To remain strong on my way,
Wisdom I find abundantly
In God’s word for each new day.
‘I do not understand my own actions.
For I do not do what I want, but I do the very thing I hate.’
