What Do They See?
By Tom D Blakely
The church is not a monument
To builders or an architect.
Nor faith confined to just one sect
Who think they are alone elect.
The church is all who know the Lord
Who came to God through Jesus’ blood.
It spans the nations, land and sea
In Christ to last eternally.
God’s children seem a random lot
But trust God’s word, that’s what we’re not!
But built to fit, within a space
Together as God’s dwelling place.
Come all in Christ, we have no time
To waste on petty squabbling
The world looks on; what does it see?
Does it see Christ in you and me?
‘Having been built on the foundation of the apostles and prophets,
Jesus Christ Himself being the chief cornerstone, in whom the whole building,
being fitted together, grows into a holy temple in the Lord,
in whom you also are being built together
for a dwelling place of God in the Spirit.’
[Ephesians 2: 20-22]
