I See The Cross
By June Stein
Within my mind I see the Cross
Where Jesus hung in agony,
Yet no one came to His defense
To save Him from that wretched tree.
Christ suffered there until He died
And then was placed into a tomb;
Sealed with a stone, and guarded well
To prove that He was dead and gone.
But on the morn of the third day
The Roman guards were terrified!
An angel came and moved the stone
Death could not hold the Son of God!
And to His own, the angel said
Christ is not here, He is not dead,
This is good news for all to hear
He has arose, just as He said!
““Now after the Sabbath, as the first day of the week began to dawn, Mary Magdalene and the other Mary came to see the tomb. And behold, there was a great earthquake; for an angel of the Lord descended from heaven, and came and rolled back the stone from the door, and sat on it. His countenance was like lightning, and his clothing as white as snow. And the guards shook for fear of him, and became like dead men.”
