A Visit From God!

A Visit From God!
By Tom D Blakely
~

My life was a nightmare and nothing seemed fair
Surrounded by death and the horrors of war.
It wasn’t my anger or hurt or despair
That drew me to God, who I felt didn’t care.

I heard all the talk of God’s wonderful love
But how could this be when such pain he allowed?
Nor was it the talk of God’s justice and truth
From what I could see these things didn’t exist.

There was nothing in me, to turn me to God
Who if he existed, seemed so far removed.
I had, no love, for God.

I wasn’t expecting a visit from God!
When God spoke I listened and here’s what He said:
The thing you are lacking is My peace within
So come now through Jesus who died for your sin.

There was nothing in me, to turn me to God
Until He spoke to me and I heard His word
And then, I prayed, to God.

God’s Spirit convicts us to show us our sin
And need of salvation through Jesus God’s Son.
To know Christ as Saviour, our sin’s sacrifice
To love God forever in awe of His grace.

There was nothing in me, to turn me to God
Until He spoke to me and I heard His word
And then, I came, to God.

“And you He made alive, who were dead in in trespasses and sins… But God, who is rich in mercy, because of His great love with which He loved us, even when we were dead in trespasses, made us alive together with Christ… For by grace you have been saved through faith, and that not of yourselves; it is the gift of God.”
[Ephesians 2:1-8]
