Remembrance
By Tom D Blakely
~

In faith we come before You Lord
According to Your holy word
Remembering Your death for us
Upon Golgotha’s cruel cross.

Your tortured body blessed Lord
Is symbolised by broken bread
The wine is like the precious blood
You shed to bring us peace with God.

These symbols may our faith renew
The broken bread and poured out wine
Give us a vision of the cross
That we might live for You always.

From death and hell You rose again
Redemption’s work completely done
No works of ours can undo sin
By faith in You we are forgiven.

Lord lift us up and lead us on
Along the way that You have shown
Our time is brief; will soon be gone
Help us to live for You alone.

And He took bread, gave thanks and broke it, and gave it to them, saying,
“This is My body which is given for you; do this in remembrance of Me.”
Likewise He also took the cup after supper, saying,
“This cup is the new covenant in My blood, which is shed for you.”
[Luke 22:19-20]
