A Christless Christian

A Christless Christian
By Tom D Blakely

I was a Christless Christian
Back in my former days,
But underneath the surface
God knew my sinful ways.
It’s not about good living
Religion or some church,
The outward signs mean nothing
When sin lurks in our hearts.

Christ made it very simple
For sinners to be saved
He took our sin upon Himself
To make us right with God.

We cannot be a Christian
If we do not know Christ,
It really is that simple
But pride can get there first;
We’d rather work for something
Than feel we are in debt,
And Jesus paid for sinners
For some, a stumbling block.

Christ made it very simple
For sinners to be saved
He took our sin upon Himself
To make us right with God.

I struggled with the concept
God’s love was something new,
And totally confusing
From my own point of view.
But when God brought conviction
My sins caught up with me,
And face to face with Jesus
By faith He set me free!

Christ made it very simple
For sinners to be saved
He took our sin upon Himself
To make us right with God.

Jesus said,
“I am the way, the truth, and the life.
No one comes to the Father except through Me.”
[John 14:6]
