I Must Know I’m Weak

I Must Know I’m Weak
By Tom D Blakely

I thank you Lord, You are my God
My Lord in every way
That even in the smallest things
I see Your hand at play.

When illness or bereavement come
Or any dreadful thing
You hold back waves and keep me calm
To ease me through the storm.

You are my strength when I am weak
You are my confidence
You are the only Friend I want
When nothing else makes sense.

You’re there with me when others fail
And no one else can help
I love and fear no earthly thing
When You are with me Lord.

For though I know You’re always there
According to Your Word
It seems that I must know I’m weak
Before You give me aid.

At times I have to fail the test
To feel the arms of God
To know how weak I really am
To realise His power.

“Therefore I take pleasure in infirmities, in reproaches, in necessities, in persecutions, in distresses for Christ’s sake: for when I am weak, then am I strong.”
[2 Corinthians 12:10]
