When The Whiskey Was Flowin’
By Tom D Blakely
I think of the nights when the whiskey was flowin’
My problems dissolved in the dregs of my glass.
Depression would follow as sure as the mornin’
My conscience returned but each time it was worse.
My problem was me, and a really bad captain
Who kept me in debt so I couldn’t get free.
So why was I happy when he was controllin’
My time off at shore and my work time at sea?
I needed a change in my life, and my captain
A skipper called Jesus was looking for crew.
“He gives a new start and all debt He will pardon”
At first I thought this was too good to be true?!!
I left my old master and transferred to Jesus
He is a good captain and personal friend!
I have a new life and my debt He has cancelled
He promised to keep me forever, Amen!
“Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature:
old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new.”
[2 Corinthians 5:17]
