Cling To Confidence

Cling To Confidence
By Christine Hare Tate

Like a gust of wind

comes the adversary,

to blow out your candle

so it won’t shine brightly.

There’s a fight of affliction

if you love the light,

when endurance is tested

in the darkness of night!

If heaven seems as brass

and satan whispers in your ear.
Hold onto your faith

and unto God draw near.

Satan comes with fury

to dim and douse your flame,

so prepare for battle

in Jesus’s holy name!

Cling to confidence
in the heat of warfare,

knowing that you are

in the Lord’s tender care.

Look beyond human resources

to the God of your salvation.

The just shall live by faith,

not natural inclinations.

“Cast not away therefore your confidence, which hath great recompense of reward.”
[Hebrews 10:35]
