Peace In The Storm

Peace In The Storm
By Tom D Blakely

Lord You bring us peace within the fiercest storm
You are in control so we need fear no harm.
May we look to You and not focus on the storm
Everything around us is part of Your plan.

Lord Your Word reminds us how You view a storm
As a test of faith for those called by Your name.
May we look to You and not focus on the storm
Perfect peace in You Lord in our prayers we claim.

Lord You are much greater than an earthly storm
You are the Creator over everything.
May we look to You and not focus on the storm
O Lord help us glorify Your precious name.

“Peace, be still. And the wind ceased, and there was a great calm.
…What manner of man is this, that even the wind and the sea obey him?”
[Mark 4: 35-41]

Jesus’ Name Is Wonderful

Jesus’ Name Is Wonderful
By Marie C Neubauer

Heaven and earth you put in place
And crowned it with beauty and grace
The Prince of Peace, the Morning Star
Almighty God, that’s who you are.
The Lord of All, Messiah King
The ruler over everything
You give us life eternally
Your name is Wonderful to me!

You are the Savior of all men
And by your love we’re born again
The Word of God, come in the flesh
The Truth and way of righteousness.
All powerful and eternal One
Who by your Word we overcome
To live with you eternally
Your name is Wonderful to me!

“For unto us a Child is born,
Unto us a Son is given;
And the government will be upon His shoulder.
And His name will be called
Wonderful, Counselor, Mighty God,
Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.”
[Isaiah 9:6]

Love God First

Love God First
By Tom D Blakely

My love of self blocks out my love for You
I love You Lord but not as I ought to.
The problem isn’t difficult to grasp
I cannot love God when I love me first.

If I loved God I’d always put God first
Forgetting me and loving Him the most.
Real love is loving others more than self
We tend to think of love as something less.

It seems our love is biased to our selves
God’s children often need His help with this.
Lord by Your Spirit help us to love You
Unhappy we will be until we do.

My love of self blocks out my love for You
So why do I still not know what to do?
The answer isn’t difficult to see
To love God first and more than I love me!

Jesus said:
“You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your mind. This is the first and great commandment.”
[Matthew 22:37-38]

My Life Vest

My Life Vest
By Tom D Blakely

When I was only thirteen, I had a rowing boat
It took a lot of putty, to keep the thing afloat.

It had an antique outboard, that started with a cord
At least that was the theory, for often it would not.

I used to get a soaking, when I launched out to sea
Especially on a rough day, with no one there but me.

A difficult manoeuvre, from sandy beach to surf
Rowing through the breaking waves, till it was deep enough.

Ship oars, start outboard motor; but if it wouldn’t fire
I had to go back to the oars, before it crashed to shore.

But when the motor started, I could head out to sea
With one hand on the outboard, I tidied things near me.

The waves made no allowance, for my decrepit boat
It banged, it crashed, it shuddered, yet somehow stayed afloat.

Everything got moved around, in rough and stormy seas
The life vest for example; kept for emergencies…

~ ~ ~ ~ ~

And that’s what got me thinking, though many years have passed
Because I never wore it; What good was that life vest?

It’s like God’s word the Bible; What good is it to me
If I keep it stored away, for some emergency?

I need to read and trust it, to know God’s will for me
Instead of being careless, and fail Him miserably!

God’s word is like a life vest; to wear and keep it on
It keeps us safe and stable, and free from any harm.

“I will meditate on Your precepts,
And contemplate Your ways.
I will delight myself in Your statutes;
I will not forget Your word.
[Psalm 119:15-16]

Give Your Best To Jesus

Give Your Best To Jesus
By Kumalawaty Sundari

Without Him all is empty
Always His goodness flows.
His mercy fills your life
Yes, Jesus loves His child!

Your burdens Jesus bears
His blood has made you whole.
Give your best to Jesus
All is bright in His grace!

If life is dim today
Hide in His precious joy.
When Jesus lifts you up
Your weariness is gone.

His Word will be your strength
God’s peace shall keep you safe.
Give your best to Jesus
It’s sweet to walk with Him!

You Are Our Lord!

You Are Our Lord!
By Marie C Neubauer

You came to earth to set us free
And give us life eternally
You paid sin’s debt for everyone
You are our Lord, Jesus God’s Son!

Amazing grace, forgiveness too
Your Holy Spirit guides us through
And all who will may freely come
You are our Lord, Jesus God’s Son!

Spiritual gifts you will bestow
That help your church on earth to grow
And let us know of things to come
You are our Lord, Jesus God’s Son!

You give us peace this world can’t give
You show us how we are to live
And by Your grace we overcome
You are our Lord, Jesus God’s Son!

“Who is the image of the invisible God”
[Colossians 1:15]

The Call Of God

The Call Of God
By Tom D Blakely

What makes us think we have the right
To even call His name?
Or dare to think He will forgive
Our debt of sin and shame?
The call of God gives us the hope
That we may know our God.
The gift of Jesus Christ received
Assures we are restored.

Do not be led a merry dance
By Satan’s subtle ways;
He has imposters everywhere
In these the final days.
Broad is the way that leads to hell
And most will take that route;
They have no living faith in Christ
So they do not know God.

When you receive the call of God
You know it is from Him,
For He will lead You to the cross
To have your sins forgiven.
God will direct you as you pray
And you repent of sin,
Then by His word will show the way
Through Jesus Christ His Son.

“For many are called, but few are chosen.”
[Matthew 22:14]
